Bryan Dos Santos-Gomes

Bryan Dos Santos-Gomes

On December 1, 2006, police began investigating the kidnapping of one-month old Bryan Dos Santos-Gomes. They determined that a woman driving an SUV took the baby boy from his mother at knifepoint. After reviewing surveillance tape, Police say the abductor's vehicle may be a 1998-2003 black two-door Ford Explorer Sport Edition. Investigators are searching registrations for vehicles similar to the suspect's SUV, and will check to see if it matches any past police reports.

Meanwhile, Ft. Myers Police have printed new fliers containing the updated information along with a composite drawing of the suspect. Police are targeting locations nationwide where a person caring for a baby might go, such as local health clinics. Det. Matt Sellers with the Fort Myers Police Department say they are looking into the case from every angle. "This is extremely valuable as far as the investigation," he says.

In December, police brought 46-year-old Valter Coelho of Lehigh Acres, Fla. in for questioning in this case, but he was released and was deported on Jan. 17.

The suspect is described as a heavyset white or Hispanic female, about 5'3", and 25 to 30 years old. She was reportedly wearing a black T-shirt and had her straight black hair pulled partially in a bun.

Baby Bryan was last seen on Dec. 1, 2006 in the area of Estero, Fla. His abductor should be considered armed and dangerous.
